Hundeskovene.dk is Denmark's first directory of dog parks, dog beaches and off-leash areas (not fenced). With over 706 places listed, we cover all of Denmark - from Skagen to Gedser.
The story of Hundeskovene.dk
2006-2009 - where it all began. Hundeskovene.dk already existed as a simple directory with photos, road maps and aerial images of more than 240 dog parks, off-leash areas (not fenced) and fenced dog areas across Denmark.
2010-2020 - we take over and rebuild. In 2010 we took over the domain: sadly, the previous owner had passed away and the site was about to be shut down. We managed to save the locations of the roughly 240 dog parks listed at the time, restored them and rebuilt the site from scratch - now with every place on one interactive map of Denmark. In the same period we launched the Hundeskove app for iOS and Android, where users could find dog parks based on their location and add new places, corrections and photos themselves. Unfortunately, we later had to take the Android version down for technical reasons. Along the way the collection grew from the original 240 to over 550 places.
2021-2026 - a new design. The site got a fresher design and was divided into regions, municipalities and towns. That is the version that has been live until now.
Today - a brand new platform. The version you see now has been rebuilt from the ground up: faster, more modern and expanded with far more data and more ways to find the right place:
- Private dog parks - we now mark private and commercial dog parks (for hire), so you know what to expect.
- EV chargers - see where you can charge your electric car while your dog has a run.
- Parts of the country and islands - find dog parks by part of Denmark and by Danish island, not just by region and municipality.
- Far more data points - we now record much more about each place: shade, type of ground, whether your dog can swim, fencing, puppy area, agility, tables and benches, water, wheelchair access and size.
- Advanced filters - combine all the data points and find exactly the right place for you and your dog - also sorted by distance from you.
- Better search - fast, smart search across dog parks, towns and municipalities.
- Social login - sign in easily with Google, Apple or Facebook to save favourites and add corrections and photos.
- Dog beaches with seasonal rules - see when your dog may go off-lead on the beach (usually 1 October-31 March).
- Reviews, photos and "near me" - ratings and photos from the community, an interactive map and search based on your location.
- Guides - tips and articles about life with a dog, facilities and the best places.
Today Hundeskovene.dk covers 706 places across Denmark - and the collection keeps growing thanks to the many dog owners who add new places, corrections and photos. Thank you so much for your help!
Our data
All information about dog parks is kept up to date by our community and editorial team. Users can suggest corrections, add new dog parks and upload photos - everything is reviewed by our team before it is published.
All content on Hundeskovene.dk and in the app - including our data on dog parks and facilities, texts, photos and maps - is of course protected by copyright and belongs to Hundeskovene.dk (Ninja Media ApS). The directory itself is also protected as a database under section 71 of the Danish Copyright Act. The content may not be copied, downloaded, stored, reproduced or extracted automatically (e.g. by scraping) - for private or commercial use - without our prior written permission. Search engines and AI services that follow our robots.txt are, however, welcome to index the pages and learn from them. See our terms and conditions for details.
