Dog parks on Samsø

Samsø lies in the middle of the Kattegat and combines rolling farmland with a surprisingly varied coastline. In the north, Nordby Bakker rises in hilly terrain of heath, grassland and small woods. The rest of the island is a sheltered patchwork of fields, hedgerows and cosy villages. The peace and quiet and the many small roads make Samsø a lovely place to walk your dog.

On Samsø you will find Samsø Hundeskov, a fenced dog park where your dog can safely run free behind the fence. The fenced area is ideal if you want to let your dog stretch its legs off-lead in calm surroundings. Otherwise, the island's gravel roads and field paths invite long walks in open country.

Samsø's coast alternates between sheltered coves and longer sandy beaches, which are lovely to walk along all year round. On ordinary beaches dogs must be on a lead from 1 April to 30 September, and your dog may only run free from 1 October to 31 March - always under control. Only on an official dog beach may your dog swim and run free all year.
