Aarhus lies on Aarhusbugten (Aarhus Bay) and is surrounded by some of East Jutland's most beautiful woods. From Riis Skov and Marselisborgskovene to Moesgård and Mollerup Skov, there is green space close to the city in every direction. The mix of bay, beech woods and hilly terrain makes the city a really good place to walk your dog.
In and around Aarhus you will find a wealth of dog parks with woodland floor, shade and plenty of space. Mollerup Skov and Moesgård Skov are among the popular ones, with long paths through old broadleaf woodland, and True Skov west of the city offers large, continuous areas. Several places have puppy-friendly areas and a few have agility, so both puppies and adult dogs get their turn.
Aarhusbugten gives plenty of chances to take your dog to the water. On ordinary beaches your dog must be on a lead from 1 April to 30 September and may only run off-lead from 1 October to 31 March, always under control. If you want to swim and play freely all year, head for one of the area's official dog beaches.
