Dog parks on Funen (Fyn)

Funen is the lush heart of the Danish islands, with a gentle, hilly landscape, winding river valleys and a long, varied coastline facing Storebælt (the Great Belt), Lillebælt (the Little Belt) and Odense Fjord. The area has everything from open fields and meadows to old deciduous woods, and the short distances make it easy to find new routes for your dog walk. The calm countryside and the many paths make Funen a rewarding place to walk your dog all year round.

Funen has a wide range of woodland dog areas and fenced dog parks, and many of them are in woodland with good shade. Kattebjerg Hundeskov near Allesø and Sollerup Hundeskov, which is fenced, are among the popular places, and several dog parks offer a puppy area and agility for active dogs. There are both private and municipal areas, so you can choose anything from large woodland areas to smaller fenced dog areas.

Funen's coasts are low and child-friendly, and there is also an official dog beach where your dog may swim and run free all year. On ordinary beaches, however, dogs must be on a lead from 1 April to 30 September, and only from 1 October to 31 March may your dog run off-lead - and always under control. Choose a recognised dog beach if you want to combine a woodland walk with a refreshing swim.
