Dog parks in Region of Southern Denmark (Region Syddanmark)

The Region of Southern Denmark covers green Funen, the Southern Jutland mainland and a long, varied coastline along Lillebælt (the Little Belt), the Danish North Sea coast and Vadehavet (the Wadden Sea). The landscape ranges from hilly woods and fertile fields to flat marshland and charming islands such as Ærø and Als.

This great variety makes the region as a whole a lovely place to walk your dog, whether you prefer woods, coast or open country.

The region is rich in woodland dog areas and fenced dog parks, spread across the municipalities from Odense and Kolding to Esbjerg and Sønderborg. Most are fenced, so your dog can run free in a safe setting - for example the coastal Bøsøre Hundeskov. Urup Hundeskov is not fenced, while woodland such as Engelsholm Skov, which is fenced, offers space and shade for long walks.

A great many places have both agility and a puppy area, so active dogs and very young ones alike can get out and about.

With coast on both Lillebælt and the Danish North Sea coast, there are plenty of chances for walks by the water. Remember, though, that dogs on ordinary beaches must be on a lead from 1 April to 30 September and may only run free from 1 October to 31 March, always under control. Only on the region's official dog beaches may your dog swim and run free all year, so find one of them if you want to go in the water in summer.
