Dog parks in Sønderborg Municipality (Sønderborg Kommune)

Sønderborg Municipality lies at the far end of Southern Jutland (Sønderjylland) around Als, Sundeved and Gråsten, with Als Sund, Flensburg Fjord (Flensborg Fjord) and a long, winding coastline. Royal forests at Gråsten, hilly countryside and the closeness to the water make the municipality a beautiful place to walk your dog. There are both sheltered woods and open views over the sounds.

Sønderborg Municipality has several dog parks spread across its towns, including Sønderskoven Hundeskov near Sønderborg and the dog parks near Gråsten, Nederstjernen and Overstjernen. The woods offer shade and plenty of space. Kær Vestermark, which is fenced, has wide views over the water while your dog stretches its legs.

Along the fjords and straits there are several beaches where you can combine a woodland walk with a swim - but mind the rules.

On ordinary beaches, your dog must be on a lead from 1 April to 30 September and may only run off-lead from 1 October to 31 March, always under control. There is no official dog beach in the municipality, so keep your dog on a lead by the water in summer.
