Dog parks in Capital Region of Denmark (Region Hovedstaden)

The Capital Region of Denmark stretches from the Øresund coast across the large forests of North Zealand to Bornholm out in the Baltic Sea. The landscape mixes old deciduous woods, lakes, coastal meadows and a dense network of towns and suburbs, so both nature walks and quick strolls are just around the corner. For dog owners, this means a short distance to everything from quiet forest paths to lively fenced areas in the middle of the city.

The region has many woodland dog areas and fenced dog parks spread across the municipalities from Copenhagen and Frederiksberg to North Zealand. Large wooded areas such as Geelsskov Hundeskov (not fenced) and Hornbæk Plantage offer shade and room for long runs. Fenced dog parks such as Taastrup Hundeskov ved St. Vejleådal are a safe choice when your dog needs to roam freely. Several places have agility equipment and a puppy area, so even the smallest and most eager dogs can get going.

Along the Øresund and the North Coast there are plenty of opportunities for walks by the water. Remember, though, that on ordinary beaches dogs must be on a lead from 1 April to 30 September and may only run free from 1 October to 31 March, always under full control. Only on the region's official dog beaches may your dog swim and run free all year - perfect for a swim, whatever the season.
