Helsingør Municipality lies at the tip of North Zealand, where the Øresund meets the Kattegat and Kronborg keeps watch over the strait. From the coastal towns of Hornbæk and Hellebæk, large woods such as Teglstrup Hegn and Hornbæk Plantage stretch inland. On the municipality's other beaches dogs must be on a lead from 1 April to 30 September and may only run off-lead from 1 October to 31 March, always under control.
