Dog parks in and near Hornbæk

Hornbæk faces the Kattegat on North Zealand's (Nordsjælland) sunny coast, where the wide sandy beach and the large Hornbæk Plantage meet behind the dunes. The town is surrounded by forest, heath and coast all at once, and the air smells of salt and pine. It is a dream destination for dogs that love both a forest floor under their paws and water to splash in.

In and near Hornbæk you will find both wooded dog parks and coastal nature. Hornbæk Plantage and Teglstrup Hegn offer miles of paths through pine and beech woods with plenty of shade and shelter, while Hellebæk Skov has varied terrain with lakes and clearings. The woods are ideal for long walks where your dog can sniff and roam under control.

Hornbæk has two official dog beaches - Hornbæk Strand and Smidstrup Strand - where dogs may swim and run off-lead all year, as long as they are under control. On other, ordinary beaches the lead rules apply: on a lead from 1 April to 30 September, and off-lead only from 1 October to 31 March. With dedicated dog beaches so close, Hornbæk is one of the best places on the coast to give your dog a dip.
