Dog parks in and near Gilleleje

Gilleleje lies at the very edge of Zealand's north coast, where the Kattegat meets woodland, cliffs and open coastland. With the sea right on the doorstep and Gribskov and the North Zealand plantations inland, great nature is close by, and the town is a wonderful base for dog walks on both beach and woodland.

In and around Gilleleje you will find several woodland dog areas and fenced dog parks as well as good stretches of coast. Hornbæk Plantage and the woodland at Gilbjerg Hoved are among the places where your dog can walk sheltered by the trees and along the coast, with shade and plenty of space. The changing nature between woodland and coast gives variety from walk to walk.

Gilleleje is a coastal town, and the north coast beaches are among Zealand's most beautiful. On the official dog beaches at Smidstrup and Hornbæk your dog may swim and run free all year.

On ordinary beaches it must be on a lead from 1 April to 30 September and may only run free from 1 October to 31 March - always under control. All year round there is plenty of room for bracing walks along the Kattegat.
