What is a dog park with woodland and shade?

A woodland dog park is a fenced natural area with trees, bushes and forest floor, where your dog can roam off-lead. The tree canopy gives natural shade and the vegetation gives shelter from the wind - unlike the open, fenced gravel dog areas. • Find shade: Dogs do not always seek out shade themselves, even when they need it - help yours find a cool spot to lie down.
• Slow the pace: Avoid hard physical exercise in the heat and choose short walks at a gentle pace instead. If you suspect heatstroke, contact a vet.
• Check for ticks: Woodland means ticks. Check your dog after the walk and remove ticks quickly to reduce the risk of infections such as Lyme disease (borreliosis), TBE and anaplasmosis.
