Åsedam Hundeskov

Åsedam Hundeskov is a large, inviting off-leash area in a scenic spot by Åsedammen in Almindingen on Bornholm. With an impressive 6.5 hectares (65,000 square metres), it is by far the largest fenced dog park on the rocky island. That is around 10 ordinary football pitches, giving unusually good space for really long runs and plenty of exploring in nature. The whole extensive area is securely fenced and has a practical double-gated entrance, so no dogs slip out when you arrive. Although the fenced area is a wonderful space where your dog can run and play off-lead, the fixed rule of Naturstyrelsen (the Danish Nature Agency) applies: you must have full control of your dog and be able to call it back at any time. Arriving is easy, with the entrance directly from the car park along Åsedamsvej. Just inside the main entrance there is a table and bench set, a rubbish bin to keep nature clean, and a water bowl for thirsty dogs. Besides the main entrance, there is also a gate in the south-east part of the area. From here you can easily extend your walk and continue straight into the rest of the woods. When you leave the fenced dog park and walk in Almindingen itself, your dog must always be on a lead, out of consideration for the forest's wildlife and other visitors.
