Dog parks in Central Denmark Region (Region Midtjylland)

The Central Denmark Region covers a lot of ground - from the broad Danish North Sea coast in the west across the hilly lake highlands with Denmark's highest points to the deep forests and stretches of heath in the middle. Here you will find open heaths, old plantations, fjords and lively towns such as Aarhus, Silkeborg and Herning. The varied landscape makes the region as a whole ideal for everything from quiet woodland walks to long hikes in hilly terrain.

The region is packed with woodland dog areas and dog parks, and most of them are fenced, so your dog can run free safely. Wooded places such as Hundeskoven i Boller Overskov and True Skov offer shade and space. Fenced dog parks such as Skovsborg Hundepark and Hadbjerg hundeskov are spread across the municipalities from Aarhus to Randers and Horsens. Many of the places have agility equipment and a puppy area, so both experienced and very young dogs can get some exercise.

To the west, the region meets the Danish North Sea coast with wide sandy beaches and dunes that tempt you to take long walks. Note the rules: on ordinary beaches dogs must be on a lead from 1 April to 30 September and may only run free from 1 October to 31 March, always under control. If you want to give your dog an off-lead swim all year round, you need to find an official dog beach, where both swimming and running free are allowed.
