Dog parks in Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality (Ringkøbing-Skjern Kommune)

Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality is Denmark's largest municipality by area and stretches from the dunes and wide beaches of the Danish North Sea coast across Ringkøbing Fjord, Skjern Å and extensive plantations. With heath, meadows and the great bird migration at Skjern Enge, there is plenty of room for long, breezy walks with your dog.

The municipality has a handful of dog parks spread across its towns, including Femhøjsande Plantage near Ringkøbing and Skjern Hundeeng (fenced), and you will also find dog parks in Tarm, Videbæk and Spjald. The conifer forest of the plantations gives shelter and shade even on windy days. Several places have good space to let your dog off the lead under control.

Along the Danish North Sea coast there are vast beaches with dunes, but be aware of the rules: on ordinary beaches your dog must be on a lead from 1 April to 30 September and may only run off-lead from 1 October to 31 March - always under control.

No official dog beach is registered in the municipality, so keep your dog on a lead by the water in the summer half of the year. Outside the season, however, the wide beaches are a wonderful place to stretch your legs.
