Dog parks in and near Skjern

Skjern lies in West Jutland on Skjern Å, close to Ringkøbing Fjord and the Danish North Sea coast. The river valley, the meadows and the vast plantations create an open, light-filled landscape with lots of space. It is an obvious choice for dog owners who love big skies and long walks.

In and around Skjern you will find several dog parks, woodland and fenced, within reach. The fenced Skjern Hundeeng is close to town with room for off-lead play, and Kirkeskoven and the fenced Videbæk Hundeskov offer woods and shade - while plantations further out give you even more to explore. From open meadow to dense conifer woods, there is enough variety for everyday walks.

From Skjern it is not far to Ringkøbing Fjord and the wide beaches of the Danish North Sea coast behind the dunes.

On ordinary beaches, your dog must be on a lead from 1 April to 30 September and may only run off-lead from 1 October to 31 March, always under control. Only on an official dog beach may it swim and run off-lead all year round, so read the signs before the lead comes off.
