Skelhøj Plantage (Ikast Byskov)

The dog park in Skelhøje Plantage, also known as Ikast Byskov Hundeskov, is in a beautiful spot just south-east of Ikast and makes a great day out for the whole family. The plantation has a dedicated fenced dog park of no less than 12 hectares - an impressively large area, roughly equal to just under 17 football pitches. Here your best friend has plenty of room to run and play off-lead in a safe setting. The area is easy to reach by car or on foot. Arriving by car from the south, there is direct access via Skelhøjvej, while walkers and cyclists can easily and safely cross the motorway bridge connecting the plantation with Søndergårdsvej. There are gates in both the southern and northern parts of the dog park. The dog park is part of a larger and very active nature area with interesting facilities for everyone. If you put your dog on a lead and head into the rest of the plantation, you will find woodland that is ideal for both running and walking. Among other things, four different marked running routes wind through the forest, easy to follow via small arrows on low posts. For visitors who like speed and exercise, the forest also has a really good, challenging mountain bike trail. If the children are along, they can explore nature at the plantation's very fine nature playground, with an obstacle course and lots of fun play equipment. After an active day of play, dog walking and fresh air, you can retreat to the forest's inviting picnic area. Tables and benches are set up here, so you can enjoy your packed lunch in peace amid beautiful, tranquil nature.
