Skolekrogen i Nørreskoven (hundeskov)

Skolekrogen is the dog park run by Naturstyrelsen (the Danish Nature Agency) in the southern part of Nørreskoven, right on the edge of Værløse. The area covers about 11 hectares, roughly 15 football pitches, and lies west of Hillerødmotorvejen, between the motorway and the residential areas of Værløse. It is an ordinary wood with paths and a natural forest floor, where your dog can run freely among the trees and there is shade on hot days. The dog park is not fenced, so your dog may only be off-lead if you have full control over it. This means it must come straight away when you call and must not disturb other visitors, dogs or wildlife. There are roe deer in the wood, and in spring birds nest close to the ground, so keep a close eye on dogs with a hunting instinct. The area borders the motorway to the east, so there can be traffic noise, and it is wise to keep your dog close on that side. If your dog struggles to come when called, Kollekollevej Hundefold, about 1 km away, is a fenced alternative. There is a small free car park with room for about six cars at the end of Skovgårds Allé by the forest road Skolekrogsvej. By Skolekrogsvej there is also a fire pit with three picnic table sets that anyone can use. No water point or toilet is recorded, so bring water for your dog. The dog park is open day and night. If you fancy a longer walk, Baunesletten fritløbsområde, an off-leash area (not fenced) of about 18 ha, is around 2 km away, and Bøndernes Hegn og Aldershvile Skov, covering about 61 ha, is around 3 km away.
