Dog parks in and near Herlev

Herlev lies in the north-western part of Greater Copenhagen, yet it has green breathing spaces close by in Hareskovene and the vast Vestskoven. Despite being so close to the city, you quickly leave the tarmac behind for forest floor, lakes and open meadows. That makes Herlev a surprisingly good place to have a dog.

In and around Herlev you will find several woodland dog areas and fenced dog parks, from the large forests of Hareskoven to places in town such as the fenced dog area in Hospitalsparken. There are vast dog parks with shade and networks of paths as well as smaller fenced dog parks where you can safely let your dog off the lead. Store Hareskov and the fenced Vestskoven ved Ejby give plenty of room for long walks.

Herlev is not on the coast, but woods and meadows are just around the corner. At Damhusengen and Damhussøen you can take long walks along the water, while Hareskovene offer real forest with shade in summer and shelter in winter. The mix of woodland, meadow and lake means no walk has to be like the last.
