Hundeskov i Oksbøl Skov

Oksbøl Skov Hundeskov is a lovely haven for dog owners on Als. The wood is part of a newer, large afforestation area that Naturstyrelsen (the Danish Nature Agency) has created to provide rich nature close to town on Nordals. The dog park itself covers an area of 2.5 hectares, which equals 25,000 m². In round figures, that is the size of 3.5 international football pitches. Naturstyrelsen has laid out the area as a fully fenced dog park with a sturdy wildlife fence and self-closing gates, so you can safely let your dog run freely, play and socialise off-lead. The terrain offers an interesting mix of young woodland, open grassy areas and dense woodland edges, giving dogs plenty of stimulating scent trails to explore. Good, wide paths have been laid out through the area. Naturstyrelsen has designed the forest roads and access so that the terrain is generally easy to get around for both pushchairs and wheelchair users in normal weather. At the entrance to the fence, comfort has been thought of with picnic table sets, where you can enjoy a coffee you have brought along, and rubbish bins for dog bags. If you come by car, there is a gravel car park on the western edge of Oksbøl Skov. The car park connects directly to the dog park's fence, so you can lead your dog safely from the car straight inside the fence. If you want a longer walk, the car park also gives direct access to the wood's other marked walking routes - but remember that your dog must always be on a lead as soon as you leave the fenced dog park.
