Hornbæk Strand - Hundestrand

Part of Hornbæk Strand is set aside as a dog beach, where your dog can run off-lead and swim all year round. On ordinary beaches dogs must be on a lead from 1 April to 30 September, so it makes a real difference in the summer half of the year. The beach is wide with a fine view, and you walk straight from the car park down to the water. The ground is sandy, but with quite a few stones along parts of the stretch - keep an eye on your dog's paws if it runs a lot. The dog beach connects with the dog park in Hornbæk Plantage, so you can combine the two: woods first, beach afterwards. There is parking for about 20 cars on a side road off Nordre Strandvej. There is no water point, no benches and no rubbish bins, so bring water and bags. Access is free, and the area is run by Naturstyrelsen (the Danish Nature Agency). Hornbæk is 1 km away, Gilleleje 10 km and Helsingør 11 km.
