Dog parks in and near Helsingør

Helsingør lies right on the Øresund in north-east Zealand, with Kronborg, the coast and large woods as its closest neighbours. Teglstrup Hegn, Hellebæk Skov and Egebæksvang stretch inland, while the Sound and the north coast towards Hornbæk bring salty air and beaches. The mix of woodland and coast makes Helsingør an excellent place to walk your dog.

In and around Helsingør you will find several dog parks, ranging from coastal woods to quieter areas behind the town. Egebæksvang Skov (not fenced) and Hellebæk Skov offer shade, a network of paths and plenty of room for long walks, and a private dog park (for hire) gives a safe, fenced alternative. The woods mix broadleaf and conifer, so there is shelter and shade all year round.

The coast along the Øresund and up towards Hornbæk is a natural part of dog life in Helsingør, and at Hornbæk you will find an official dog beach. On ordinary beaches dogs must be on a lead from 1 April to 30 September and may only run off-lead from 1 October to 31 March, always under control. Only on the official dog beach may your dog swim and run off-lead all year, so keep an eye on the signs.
