Fritløbsområde nord for Amager Strand

Amager Hundestrand, as the off-leash area (not fenced) north of Amager Strand is also known, lies east of Amager Strandvej by Vågestien and runs right down to the water. Access to the water is what makes it popular. There is a bathing jetty and a boat slipway, plus a small sandy beach where your dog can swim - rare this close to Copenhagen (København). There is also a lawn to lie on while your dog is in the water. Two practical points. The slipway can be slippery, so hold back if your dog races down it. And seaweed builds up at times, as on all beaches along the Øresund. There is fresh water for the dogs, a picnic table and a bin. The toilet is open in the summer half of the year and locked in winter. There is parking for about ten cars. Mind the parking rules. Entry is free, and the area is run by Copenhagen Municipality. Central Copenhagen is 4 km away, Frederiksberg 6 km and Dragør 9 km.
