Frederiksborg Slotshave (hundepark)

The dog park in Frederiksborg Slotshave is a fenced lawn with scattered trees in the large palace garden north of Frederiksborg Slot (the palace) in Hillerød. The fenced area is about 900 square metres, a little more than a football pitch, and is a good place to let your dog run off-lead safely before or after a walk in the garden. Slotshaven is one of the most beautiful parks in North Zealand, with lakes, canals and old trees, and it is well worth a walk with your dog. Special rules apply outside the fenced area. Your dog may be off-lead in the Lille Dyrehave, Indelukket and Jægerbakken areas, but only if you have full control of it. In the rest of the palace garden it must be on a lead, and dogs are not allowed at all in the restored Barokhave (the Baroque Garden). Your dog must always be accompanied, and aggressive dogs may only come along wearing a closed muzzle. There are many swans and other waterbirds by the lakes and canals, so keep a close eye on dogs that like to chase birds. There are benches and rubbish bins in the garden, and no water point is recorded in the dog park, so bring water for your dog. Entry and parking are free. If you want more room to run off-lead, Selskov (not fenced) of about 43 ha and Tyvekrogen Hundeskov of about 98 ha are both around 1 km away.
