Sydhavnstippen hundegård

Sydhavnstippen Hundegård is a fenced off-lead area of just under 1 hectare (9,000 m2) in Sydhavnen in Copenhagen (København), right on the edge of the unique, protected nature area Sydhavnstippen. The dog run was officially set up in spring 2017 to give the district's many dog owners a safe, clearly bounded space. To understand where the fenced dog area is and what it is for, you need to know the rules for the rest of Sydhavnstippen. Sheep and alpacas roam freely on the large nature area itself as part of its conservation grazing. That is why there is a strict and absolute rule that dogs must always be on a lead on the "Tippen" itself. The fenced dog area was set up as the answer to this: a dedicated, fully fenced space where your dog can safely run off-lead, let off steam and socialise with other dogs without putting the local wildlife at risk. It is laid out as a classic urban dog run rather than an actual wood. The area is flat and easy to keep an eye on, with a natural surface of grass and soil, surrounded by a sturdy metal fence. The open ground makes it ideal for free play and running across the area. There are rubbish bins by the entrance, so you can quickly get rid of used dog bags and keep the area tidy for everyone. Sydhavnstippen lies at the far end of densely built-up Sydhavnen. If you come by car, the easiest option is the public parking in the industrial and residential areas around Fragtvej or Bådhavnsgade. From there, put your dog on a lead and walk the last stretch to the entrance to Sydhavnstippen's green areas, where the fenced dog area is easy to reach.
