Dog parks on the Limfjord (Limfjorden)

The Limfjord winds right across North Jutland, linking the Danish North Sea coast with the Kattegat, and the landscape around the fjord is shaped by low coasts, wide dune plantations and open heath. The nature shifts between windswept dunes by the sea and sheltered plantations further inland, and there are plenty of quiet paths to walk. That makes the fjord area a scenic, airy place to walk your dog.

Around the Limfjord there are several woodland dog parks and fenced dog parks in the typical dune plantations. Places such as Østerild Klitplantage and Vilsbøl Klitplantage offer plenty of space and shade among the trees, and the terrain is natural rather than laid out with facilities. Expect open dog areas and quiet woodland walks rather than big facilities.

The area has both fjord shores and access to the North Sea, and there is a proper dog beach at Vigsø, where your dog may swim and run off-lead all year round. On ordinary beaches, however, your dog must be on a lead from 1 April to 30 September and may only run off-lead from 1 October to 31 March, always under control. Choose the dog beach if you want to combine your dune walk with a swim.
