Dog parks in and near Thisted

Thisted lies in Thy between the Limfjord and the Danish North Sea coast, in a landscape of dune plantations, heath and open coastline. The nature is grand and rugged, with dunes, pine forest and vast beaches a short way off. Few places offer more room for long dog walks.

In and around Thisted you will find several dog parks in the large dune plantations, where your dog can run among pine and spruce. Vilsbøl and Østerild Klitplantage are within reach, and Tingstrup Hundeskov is close to town. The plantation trees give shelter from the westerly wind, and there is plenty of room for your dog to get going.

Thy is coastal country, and the water is never far away. On the dog beach at Vigsø dogs may swim and run off-lead all year, while on ordinary beaches they must be on a lead from 1 April to 30 September and may only run off-lead from 1 October to 31 March, always under control. Between dunes and sea there are big skies and plenty of room for a bracing walk.
