Horsens lies at the end of the long Horsens Fjord, where the town meets the water and the green hills of East Jutland. Around the town the landscape alternates between woodland, river valleys and coast, and a quiet path or a stretch of fjord nature is never far away. That makes Horsens a convenient base for dog walks in varied terrain.

In and around Horsens there is a range of woodland dog areas and fenced dog parks to suit every dog. Hundeskoven i Boller Overskov and Stensballegaard Hundeskov (both fenced) offer hilly woodland with shade and good paths down towards the fjord, while several fenced dog parks with agility equipment give room for active play and training behind a fence. The choice ranges from large woodland areas to spots close to town where your dog can safely run off-lead.

Horsens Fjord invites walks along the water, but mind the rules on ordinary beaches: from 1 April to 30 September your dog must be on a lead, and it may only run off-lead from 1 October to 31 March - always under control.

Swimming and running off-lead all year round require an official dog beach. Otherwise, the fjord paths and nearby woods offer plenty of options for the rest of the year.
