Dog parks in and near Skagen

Skagen lies out at Grenen, where the Skagerrak and the Kattegat meet, surrounded by vast dunes, dune plantations and bright beaches. The special landscape - sand, sea and windswept pine trees - makes every dog walk an experience. Few places in Denmark have woodland and open sea so close together.

In and around Skagen you will find several woodland dog areas and fenced dog parks in the dune plantations. The dog park by Den Tilsandede Kirke (the sand-buried church) in Skagen Klitplantage and Bunken Klitplantage Hundeskov offer woodland, shelter and room to play freely among dunes and pines. Further south there is Ålbæk Plantage, among others. They are obvious alternatives when your dog needs to run free away from the beach.

Skagen's beaches are a world of their own, but the lead rules apply there too. On ordinary beaches your dog must be on a lead from 1 April to 30 September and may only run free from 1 October to 31 March, always under control. Only on an official dog beach may it swim and run free all year, so keep an eye on the signs out in the dunes.
