Frederikshavn Municipality lies at the top of Vendsyssel with coast on both the Kattegat and the Skagerrak, and the landscape is shaped by dune plantations, heath and the bright light of North Jutland. From Sæby in the south to Skagen in the north it alternates between beach, dunes and pine forest, and the sea is never far away. Frederikshavn is very much a coastal municipality, and along the Kattegat and the Skagerrak there are vast beaches and dunes to explore. Remember the rules: on ordinary beaches your dog must be on a lead from 1 April to 30 September and may only run free from 1 October to 31 March, always under control. Only on an official dog beach may your dog swim and run free all year.
