Skælskør is a charming old market town on Storebælt (the Great Belt) in south-west Zealand, where fjord, coast and hilly woodland meet. The winding fjord, the nearby beaches and the woods around town give a wealth of options for good dog walks.
The combination of sea and woodland makes the area especially appealing to walk in.
In and around Skælskør you'll find a number of woodland dog areas and fenced dog parks within a short distance. The fenced Kobæk Hundeskov and Østerskoven offer woodland and shade close to town, and several places - some with agility equipment and puppy areas - make it easy to train and play.
From fenced areas close to town to larger woods, there is something for both the calm and the wild dog.
At Skælskør the coast is never far away, and a walk along Storebælt is part of the experience.
On ordinary beaches your dog must be on a lead from 1 April to 30 September and may only run off-lead again from 1 October to 31 March - always under control. On an official dog beach, however, it may swim and run off-lead all year, so check the signs before the lead comes off.
