Dog parks in and near Slagelse

Slagelse is an old market town in western Zealand with woods, river valleys and coast within a short distance. The town is centrally placed, with Storebælt (the Great Belt) to the west and rolling farmland around it. Whichever way you go, you quickly reach nature well suited to good dog walks.

In and around Slagelse you will find a wide choice of woodland dog areas and fenced dog parks. Bakkely Skov (fenced) and Østerskoven offer woodland and shade close to town, and many places have agility equipment and puppy areas, so there is plenty of opportunity for both play and training. From fenced areas to larger woods, there is something for dogs of all ages and temperaments.

From Slagelse it is a short way to the coast at Storebælt, where beaches and swimming are part of the picture. On ordinary beaches your dog must be on a lead from 1 April to 30 September and may only run free from 1 October to 31 March, always under control.

On an official dog beach, however, it may swim and run free all year - so check the signs before the lead comes off.
