Djursland is a peninsula in eastern Jutland where the Kattegat coast, the rolling hills of Mols Bjerge and a wealth of woods and river valleys meet. The area offers varied nature, from open grassland and heath to sheltered deciduous woods, and this very variety makes it one of the best parts of Jutland for long dog walks. Whether you are looking for views from the hilltops or shelter under the trees, there is terrain for every walk.
On Djursland you will find a good selection of woodland dog areas and fenced dog parks, most of which offer woodland and shade for hot days. Places such as Egedal skov and Auning Hundeskov, both fenced, give room to play. Several of the dog parks have a puppy area for the smallest dogs, and a few have agility equipment. The terrain varies between dense plantations and more open grassy dog parks, so there is something for both active and calm dogs.
The coast is never far away on Djursland, and the many beaches along the Kattegat are lovely for walks. Remember, though, that on ordinary beaches dogs must be on a lead from 1 April to 30 September and may only run free from 1 October to 31 March - always under full control. Only on an actual dog beach may your dog swim and run free all year, so check the rules for the specific beach before the lead comes off.
