Dog parks in Indre By

Indre By is Copenhagen's oldest district and lies in the centre of the city, bordered by Østerbro to the north, Nørrebro to the north-west and Vesterbro to the west. Christianshavn is also part of the district, and across the harbour to the south-east lies Amager. It is densely built up, but the old ramparts and the parks offer a surprising number of places to walk your dog.

In Indre By you will find eight dog parks, fenced dog areas and off-lead areas. Along Nørre Voldgade by Ørstedsparken there are three fenced off-lead areas side by side, and there are also fenced dog areas on Sankt Pauls Plads, on Eidsvoll Plads and on Trondhjems Plads by Østerport.

In Botanisk Have (the Botanical Garden) there is a fenced off-lead area, and on Christianshavns Vold is the district's only dog wood (hundeskov), just over half a hectare, which is not fenced.

If your dog needs a proper woodland dog area, Kongelunden Hundeskov is on Amager to the south and Ermelunden Hundeskov i Jægersborg Dyrehave to the north. Closer by, there is plenty of room in Fælledparken on Østerbro and on Amager Fælled.

On the official dog beaches, such as the off-lead area at Amager Strand, your dog may swim and run free all year under control, while on ordinary beaches it must be on a lead from 1 April to 30 September and may only run free from 1 October to 31 March.
