Dog parks in and near Hjørring

Hjørring lies in the middle of Vendsyssel, a short distance from both the Danish North Sea coast to the west and the Kattegat to the east, surrounded by plantations, hills and open countryside. The town has green breathing spaces such as Folkeparken close by and dune plantations towards the coast. That makes Hjørring a versatile base for dog walks in both woods and dunes.

In and around Hjørring you will find a wide choice of woodland dog areas and fenced dog parks, from grassy dog parks in town to dune plantations such as Tornby and Tversted. There are fenced dog parks where your dog can safely run free, puppy-friendly fenced areas and vast dog parks with pine and shade. Try, for example, Tornby Klitplantage or Hjørring Bjerge when your dog needs to stretch its legs in varied terrain.

With both the North Sea and the Kattegat within reach, beaches and dunes are a natural part of dog life around Hjørring. Note that on ordinary beaches dogs must be on a lead from 1 April to 30 September and may only run free from 1 October to 31 March, always under control. Only on an official dog beach may your dog swim and run off-lead all year round, so keep an eye on the signs.
