East Zealand stretches along Køge Bugt and the Øresund and combines nature close to the city with coast, woods and open countryside. From the wooded areas around Roskilde Fjord to the long beaches on the bay, variety is easy to reach, and the many paths make it simple to get out with your dog. Being close to both woodland and water makes the region practical for dog walks all year round.
In East Zealand you will find a good mix of dog parks, woodland and fenced, several of them in woods with shade. The fenced Boserup Skov by Roskilde Fjord and Gulddysse Skov are among the well-known places, and there are dog parks with both agility and a puppy area. The choice ranges from large woodland areas to smaller fenced dog areas close to town.
Along Køge Bugt there are long, shallow beaches, and the region has an official dog beach where your dog may swim and run off-lead all year round.
On ordinary beaches, dogs must be on a lead from 1 April to 30 September, and only from 1 October to 31 March may your dog run off-lead - always under control. Choose a recognised dog beach if you want to combine a swim with off-lead running.
