Dog parks in Himmerland

Himmerland is a large, continuous area of land south of the Limfjord, known for the mighty Rold Skov, wide heaths and a hilly landscape with lakes and springs. The nature ranges from deep woods and bogs to open grassland, and on most walks in the area the sky feels wide open. That makes it a calm and scenic place to stretch your legs with your dog.

In Himmerland you will find a number of woodland dog areas and dog parks spread across the whole area. Places such as Aars Skov (fenced) and the dog park at Juelstrup Sø give plenty of room to exercise your dog, and several of the areas are in woodland with shade. The choice is mostly open grassy dog parks and woodland rather than large, fitted-out parks, so expect walks close to nature without many facilities.

Himmerland is surrounded by water, with the Limfjord to the north and Mariager Fjord to the south, where there are quiet fjord shores to walk along. On ordinary beaches your dog must be on a lead from 1 April to 30 September and may only run off-lead from 1 October to 31 March, always under control. Only on a proper dog beach may your dog swim and romp off-lead all year round, so check the rules for the place beforehand.
