Dog parks in South Zealand (Sydsjælland)

South Zealand (Sydsjælland) is a quiet, scenic region of rolling farmland, broadleaf woods and long stretches of coast facing Smålandsfarvandet and Østersøen (the Baltic Sea). The landscape is shaped by peaceful woodland, manor estates and a wealth of small paths that invite long, relaxed dog walks. There is plenty of space and calm to enjoy nature with your dog.

In South Zealand you will find several pleasant woodland dog areas and fenced dog parks with trees and shade, and a few have a puppy area for the youngest dogs. Herlufholm hundeskov near Næstved and Præstø Hundeskov, both fenced, are good examples of places with room to exercise your dog in beautiful countryside. Several of the parks are fenced, so your dog can run off-lead in a safe fenced dog area.

South Zealand has plenty of coastline, but note that there is no official dog beach in the region. On ordinary beaches, dogs must therefore be on a lead from 1 April to 30 September and may only run off-lead from 1 October to 31 March, always under control. If you want to let your dog swim in the summer months, head for an official dog beach in a neighbouring region.
