Dog parks in and near Holstebro

Holstebro lies in the middle of the West Jutland landscape, where Storåen winds through the town and vast plantations take over beyond the town boundary. The nature here is shaped by heath, conifer forest and wide open spaces, and with the huge Klosterhede right on the doorstep there is almost unlimited room for long dog walks. That makes Holstebro one of the best places in West Jutland to have a dog.

In and around Holstebro there is a wealth of woodland dog areas where you can walk for hours without meeting a soul. Hundeskoven Kobbelhøje in Klosterheden and Nibsbjerg Plantage Hundeskov, which is fenced, offer large, continuous woodland with lots of shade and fragrant conifers.

Tvis Hundeskov and several private dog parks (for hire) offer fenced settings where your dog can run free safely. The choice covers both the roaming dog and the puppy that needs to practise behind a fence.

Although Holstebro is inland, you will not miss out on nature by the water - Storåen and the many lakes and bogs in the plantations offer refreshing breaks on your walk. The conifer forest of Klosterheden stays green all year and gives shelter on windy days, so you can always find a sheltered route. Here it is all about woods, peace and quiet and plenty of room rather than coast.
